Sam Hamish

After the school had provided so much for Samantha, the name left her hanging.

This took time – evidently Sam/Samantha isn’t her real name, the real name is far removed from the name we gave her at birth.

This was a process – we had moved forward, male clothes, male haircut, male pronouns but I have to say this was probably one of the hardest things early on.

He chose this name – as it took us a long time to decide on what her birth name was, it was expected that this should take some time too – but it was very frustrating calling a person of male appearance Samantha!!

It tripped us up a lot, it made things a little awkward and harder for him because we kept slipping up and using female pronouns.

Finally names were presented and our opinion was sought which for us was nice – because we also wanted him to have a name that we enjoyed….and hence SAM arrived, and when middle names came up for discussion, a name we had originally chosen for a boy if we had one was entered into the combination.

Finally – things started to settle a bit, a new male name, a male appearance – school was great, the inner circle complete and the outer circle building.

Samantha ceased to be, and Sam Hamish arrived.
